The ONEclub families from Tavares Middle School began their Christmas break with a return trip to the Holloway Foundation farm to enjoy the nature walks, enjoy festive holiday music, great snacks and make holiday ornaments and decorations from natural objects found on the farm.

A Native American Christmas Celebration took place this past December at the foundation barn with special guest Jim Sawgrass founder of Deep Forest Historical Native Programs. Sawgrass is a native Floridian of Muscogee Creek descent and living historian of the southeastern tribes of Florida, Georgia and Alabama. An amazing presentation on the history and lifestyle of our early Florida natives in addition to a museum quality display of artifacts, guest were then treated to demonstrations of how the native Americans used natural materials to make items needed for their living, and an atlatl demonstration of a weapon commonly used by the native Americans for hunting. In addition, attendees were treated to a visit by the Florida Audubon Bird of Prey Center and three of their ambassador birds. Guest learned about characteristics of these amazing birds and a up close view of an Eastern Screech Owl, American Kestrel, and a Barred Owl.
